You have stated the issues very clearly, but I am still left wondering at the motivations of the quislings, as you so aptly call them. What is the endgame, not only for them but for all the MAGA fascists? What more can they gain in power and wealth? They are working hard to destroy the middle and working classes and to eliminate poverty by eliminating the poor. I wonder how Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Thiel, et al sleep at night or look at themselves in the mirror. But where do bit players like Smith and Jivani fit into this picture? They will never make it to the top of the heap.
I am not sure that we would be like Puerto Rico whose residents are US citizens, I think we would be more like Pacific Islanders who are American subjects but not citizens and who have to apply for citizenship if they move to the US, although they do have the right to domicile there.
