The problem is really the lack of critical thinking and the fact that the people who need to learn it are the least likely to try. They live in a feedback loop that gives them the emotional satisfaction of doing their own research but limiting it to sources that reinforce their ideas rather than challenging them. They don't read the mainstream press, or read or watch any alternative source that they have been told is run by the communists, socialists, libtards, or whatever other insult they can parrot. They think this proves their superior knowledge.
